Description

The 100/1000BASE-T1 Media Converter v2 MATEnet is an automotive Ethernet converter supporting both MACsec (TC17) security and sleep/wake-up (TC10) functionality.

The device provides full-duplex physical-layer conversion between 1000BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T (Gigabit Ethernet) or 100BASE-T1 and 100BASE-TX (Fast Ethernet) networks. It is equipped with TE MATEnet and RJ-45 connectors. Communication speed and master/slave mode can be auto-negotiated with the link partner or manually configured by the user.

The TC10 function enables transmission and reception of sleep and wake-up commands, while MACsec adds data-link-layer security through configurable RX and TX Secure Association Keys (SAKs).

A USB (Virtual COM Port) interface allows configuration of device parameters and reading of status information programmatically. Additionally, the device can operate as a USB-to-CAN(/FD) interface.

  • 1000BASE-T1 and 100BASE-T1 support
  • OPEN Alliance’s MACsec (TC17) support
  • OPEN Alliance’s sleep/wake-up (TC10) support
  • 100/1000 Mbit full-duplex communication
  • Speed auto-negotiation or manual selection
  • Master/slave auto-negotiation or manual selection
  • Automatic polarity detection on T1 port
  • Frame generator mode
  • USB for configuration, status and port diagnostic
  • Free-of-charge PC application
  • Can be used as a USB to CAN(/FD) interface
  • USB or externally powered
  • Aluminium enclosure
  • DIN rail mounting possibility

The media converter offers advanced features such as frame generator, cable diagnostic, as well as a possibility to be used as a USB to CAN(/FD) interface simultaneously with the media conversion function.

A free-of-charge PC application is available to visualise the device’s status, configure its parameters and use the advanced functions, such as MACsec and TC10.

The open communication protocol over USB or CAN(/FD), which allows to read status information and configure port parameters, enables to easily integrate the converter into any system. The user can programmatically configure the device (such as T1 port parameters, TC10, MACsec), and read its status.

The media converter is an ideal tool for connecting a 100BASE-T1/1000BASE-T1 ECU or network to a computer or laptop. The in-built status LEDs and dip switches allow to easily use the converter without a PC.
