Description
The LIN to RS-232 Gateway is a bidirectional communication converter that can be used to interface a LIN bus to RS-232. The converter can be easily integrated into other systems with the help of its open communication protocol over RS-232. The device can act as LIN master, LIN slave, or LIN sniffer. A typical use-case is to interconnect a PLC with a LIN network. The user can transmit and receive LIN frames, or simply monitor LIN bus communication.

LIN-RS232 Gateway Communication Protocol Specification
The communication protocol over RS-232 offers to use the device in three modes:
- LIN master
- LIN slave
- LIN monitor (communication sniffer)
The communication protocol allows to control the LIN-RS232 gateway:
- Configure the LIN channel (master/slave, baud rate, checksum type)
- Transmit: master request, master responses
- Receive: slave responses
- Simulate slave
- Sniffer: to receive all LIN communication
